It is now 10 am here in the UK and for the past 30 minutes or so I have been trying to access the Diesel clothing store which is down. Why? I hear you all ask…Today is the 30th birthday of Diesel and to celebrate they are offering “unrivalled, limited-edition Diesel denim jeans around the World for a give-away price of £30.00.”
If sources are to be believed the jeans are “Skinny” jeans, in which case I am completely wasting my time as I do and would not own a pair of such jeans.
Beyond all my ramblings the lesson to learn from this fiasco is that a promotion which is meant to attract buyers including new potential buyers could have an adverse effect and lose you customers both short term and worst case long term. A global company the size of Diesel should have the planning and infrastructure to cope with surges in traffic. The plus side for them is the publicity they are receiving from this (you are reading it now!) as all publicity is good publicity right and/or there’s no such thing as bad publicity?
UPDATE 10:40 am: I finally managed to get on to the site which is very intermittent at the moment…my size not available…what a waste of 1 hour!
