The GreatDomains Premium Domain Auction Event which has been covered on Internetuals is now in the home straight with just over 24 hours remaining until the scheduled closure time of the auctions. Of the top 18 highest bid domains only 4 have met the set reserve prices and although bidding activity has increased, if the current trend continues many domain names will close without the reserve prices being met including RSS.com which is currently at $22,000 USD and mag.com at $16,000 USD. Lower down the list, the quality of domains is low with a number of lll.nets currently at mid $xxx and the one word .com domain storming.com stands out at the current bid price of $366 with the reserve met. Tomorrow will reveal a lot about the domain industry and the inpact the state of the global economy has on it as the GreatDomains/Sedo domain auctions are usually a success with little unsold domains.

The GreatDomains Premium Domain Auction Event which was reported earlier in the week on Internetuals is now in full swing and around mid-way through the auction things are heating up. As the business end of the auction fast approaches the LLL.coms are currently dominating the top end of the auction with the highest bids. Top of the list is currently eha.com at $10,099 with the reserve being met. Following eha.com are a number of domains with reserves not met including minority.com, approach.com, mag.com and the mighty RSS.com which is currently at just $9,999 with a reserve in the region of $500,000 - $999,999 so it looks highly unlikely RSS.com will sell in this auction. The auction is set to end on Thursday October 23rd and an increase in bidding activity is expected over the coming days as the closing date approaches.

Essential Tips: Never Place All Your Eggs In One Basket

15 Oct 2008 In: Main

One of the most important tips I am able to personally offer from first hand experience is the importance of never placing all your eggs in one basket. By this I mean that if you have supplementary options available which have little hindrance and impact on your current interests whether they be revenue e.t.c. then it is best to look into diversifying so that these complement the current interests and minimalises the chance of jeopardising anything negatively.

It is now 10 am here in the UK and for the past 30 minutes or so I have been trying to access the Diesel clothing store which is down. Why? I hear you all ask…Today is the 30th birthday of Diesel and to celebrate they are offering “unrivalled, limited-edition Diesel denim jeans around the World for a give-away price of £30.00.”

If sources are to be believed the jeans are “Skinny” jeans, in which case I am completely wasting my time as I do and would not own a pair of such jeans.

Beyond all my ramblings the lesson to learn from this fiasco is that a promotion which is meant to attract buyers including new potential buyers could have an adverse effect and lose you customers both short term and worst case long term. A global company the size of Diesel should have the planning and infrastructure to cope with surges in traffic. The plus side for them is the publicity they are receiving from this (you are reading it now!) as all publicity is good publicity right and/or there’s no such thing as bad publicity?

UPDATE 10:40 am: I finally managed to get on to the site which is very intermittent at the moment…my size not available…what a waste of 1 hour!

Over the course of the next few weeks/months I shall be experimenting the power of optimization (SEO) and monetization on a forum community which receives the visitor statistics available in the AWStats screenshot.

The site consists of an index page which links to a phpBB forum and the current earnings are negligible. The aim of this experiment is to Search Engine Optimize (SEO) the phpBB forum and site and once optimized, to maximise the revenue generated by the site via experimenting with various ad networks.

TouchType, developed by Michael Schneider, is one of those Apps that should already be a standard part of the iPhone but it isn’t. TouchType is an App that allows you to compose e-mails in Landscape mode as opposed to being restricted to Portrait mode only, thus allowing you to type e-mails faster and more accurately with the larger full-size keyboard.

Are you one of those that checks your Google AdSense earnings excessively? Are you one of those that logs in so frequently that sometimes even the mighty Google servers haven’t had time to update the earnings statistics and the earnings remain the same as they were on your last check (which was only 8 minutes ago)? Would you like the ability to quickly and easily view your earnings on the move via your iPhone?

If the above applies to you, iEarn could be the answer you have been looking for.
